Do more with less.

The SDM is built on understanding how dressage works, creativity, and precision. To explore the possibilities of dressage, we break dressage into 2 elements: theory and moves. Like music theory, dressage theory describes the underlying principles, techniques, and ideas that apply to performance. Our core moves dictionary is short, defining only a handful of moves to be memorized (the building blocks which all other moves are based on), while our distinct moves dictionary hosts an ever-growing list of our favorite, more complex moves, each with their own name and story.

Simplified Dressage is over 8 years in the making, since January of 2017, in the very early days of SSO dressage on North America. Developing separately from standard dressage, we define things from the perspective of the individual rider rather than the commander, with self-explanatory move names and an accessible approach that avoids unnecessary memorization, like simply commanding "curl out" and "trotting curl into canter curl" rather than using separate moves called "bloom" and "B curl."

The SDM is a community resource, free to use as long as credit is given. We hope you find it enriching and inspiring!
